Looking for a puppy to bring home to Oyster Bay, NY? Every dog we place at Puppy Petite has been raised with real care from the first week, and you tend to notice it in how easily they settle in. We start with AKC registration and full vet checks, then add early socialization and some beginner training before a puppy ever leaves us. What we want is pretty simple. Your puppy should show up healthy, steady, and ready to be part of the family instead of overwhelmed by it.

What Are Purebred Breeds?

A purebred dog has two parents with the same recorded lineage through the American Kennel Club. That matters more than it might sound. When both parents are the same breed and their pedigree is on paper, you get a much better idea of what your puppy will actually be like as it grows, from adult size and coat type to temperament and everyday behavior. When a puppy has a mixed or unknown background, many of these characteristics are uncertain. Maybe you want a little Pomeranian. Maybe you want a poodle, since plenty of allergy-sensitive owners handle a poodle coat better than most. Either way, a known AKC bloodline takes some of the uncertainty out of it.

We at Puppy Petite only work with AKC registered parent dogs, and only from breeders who do things the right way. We look for healthy parents that actually meet the breed standard, because that is what gives us puppies that are sound, well adjusted, and cared for properly. It is also better for the breeds themselves over the long run, which matters to us as much as any single litter does.

Purebred Vs. Designer Breeds: What’s The Difference?
We lean toward purebred puppies because you know what you are getting. Designer crosses like Maltipoos and Morkies mix two purebred breeds to try to get the best of both. Sometimes that works out. But the results are harder to predict, and temperament, health, coat, and grown-up size can all land somewhere you did not expect. A purebred provides families with a more accurate understanding of these factors from the start.
  • You can plan around predictable temperaments, coat types, and adult sizes.
  • AKC lineage tends to mean healthier, more consistent litters.
  • It is easier to match the right puppy to the right home when the breed personality is reliable.
  • It supports breeders who follow real health and care standards.

How Our Responsible Breeders Ensure Happy, Healthy Pups

Regular & Up-to-Date Vet Inspections

Small purebred dogs can be prone to certain inherited issues, so we do not cut corners on vet care. Every puppy gets regular health checks and preventive monitoring while it is with us, which helps them develop the way they should and catches problems early. By the time a puppy goes home, it is fully vaccinated and comes with detailed medical records. You get to see exactly where its health stands. No guesswork.

AKC-Registered Litters

We hold our litters to AKC registration standards, and that keeps everything consistent, from documented lineage to breed integrity. Each puppy's background is recorded with the American Kennel Club, which confirms it is purebred and gives you a dependable sense of temperament, health, and breed traits. Registration has a practical upside too. It opens the door to AKC programs, competitions, and other activities down the line if you ever want to get into them.

Proper Socialization & Early Training

Socialization and training start in the first few weeks, not later. We use structured interaction, steady exposure to new things, and positive reinforcement. Because we know how each breed tends to behave, we can steer that early development in a healthy direction and set a puppy up to handle family life and normal daily routines without a rough adjustment.

Safe & Healthy Pickup Practices

We do not ship puppies through third-party transport for long distance delivery. It is stressful for them, and we would rather not put a young puppy through it. Families come to our New York City location and pick up in person once the puppy is at least eight weeks old. It makes for a calmer, safer first day, which is the whole idea.
